Nope, that was suggesting straight compromise.

#2 because of ducks and geese is the ultimate compromise.

couple of things, those 3's at 1560 are a killer load, but, patterns get tuff after 1450-1500fps with the lbc, takes some playing around with unless you get lucky. if you have cheddite hulls and win2098 primers try 35 grains of steel with the lbc43 wad and 1 1/4 ounce of shot. with a good crimp it will get you 1470ish fps. many , many ducks have died by this load

note i ran your loads at 1 1/4 ounce, if you're wondering about pellet count, also it doesnt copy time to target to the catolog on the software, if its important let me know i'll post them up

Thanks a ton man!!! Don't really care about time to target...just kinda wondered. The energy column is ft/lbs per pellet correct?

I have multihulls with chedite primers. I'll look for win primers, but nobody has anything in stock now.

I'm gonna make a few different loads and do a bunch of patterning next weekend.

Cool. I'll load a couple of those up then. How should I slit the wads?

I try 4 slits all the way to about an 1/8" from the base. I load that with 36 grains and a cci209m primer to get 1510ish fps and slit three times but I know that load is a little hot. At the slower speed the four slits was pretty good, try both. For three slits use a three sided broad head to mark the wad then cut with scissors

Will do. I'm up north right now, but I will when I get home Monday. I'm not using any high tech equipment, but I feel like the crimps look good.
Just outa curiosity...how does a crimp make that big of a difference?

Look good. How tightly packed are they, does shot rattle when you shake them? I'm thinkin maybe half a turn clockwise on crimp punch. Would also adjust cam very slightly, will give more of a rounded edge, feed easier in chamber.

Before you touch a thing on your press, stick about 1/16" of shim stock under the hull at the final station and press it again, I think you'll be real happy with the result

I'll give that a shot. Am I just looking for a deeper crimp?

It is hard to tell how deep you are, but looks like you could use a little more depth. I like a depth of between .050" and .065" from the rim of the crimp. Any more and you pressures are going to go up. I think another thing is they need a rounded or tapered end of the shell or you may have a failure to feed into the chamber. It will tighten up the crimp a bit as well.

I have seen no need for buffer, an OS is only for good crimps, I would rather have a felt wad below shot to raise shot height. Have had some good loads with OS cards though.
