Workin on a few different lead loads. My top barrel will have tungsten #7, no need in wasting those on a close bird, a good 30 yard pattern would be ideal. Will pattern through an IM choke.

I've never turkey hunted. Don't even know anybody around here that hunts them well enough to ask if i could tag along, but I'd love to get into it if I could just figure out how.

Grab a call, face mask, and shotgun. Shoot them in the head.

That's the basics. Scout, early season and late season you can sort of pattern them in fields. When they are looking for poon they're crazy. Get up and out to your land before daylight, and use a owl hoot tube. They'll shock gobble to that. Set up about 150 yards away, and don't call till they hit the ground.

They're a lot like ducks, some are extremely call shy. You have to know when a enough is enough, and wait till they come. Some you have to constantly call or they'll lose interest.

Also, mid afternoon if you can get a bird to gobble in my experience, he is dead. The hens go to nest, so they're out trying to get lucky.

There is also toms who don't gobble. I usually sit at a spot at least 1.5 hours. Some will come in silent, you have to listen for the spitting and drumming they do. You want hear unless he's within 50 yards or so.

Some people are more patient than I. They use decoys and shit. I don't, I run and gun. I try to cut the birds off. This is good to do after the morning. It's all learning as you go. A lot like duck hunting.
