I'm going to load up this years upland and pheasant loads, the kids and I usually go through around 400 rounds a year . That includes a few trips out with the pigeon thrower as a warm up. We all shoot 870 super express shot guns and run factory full chokes all year, we go to a dead coyote .699 choke for ducks with steel.

This is our normal go to load;

Traditional Pheasant

HULL: Rio 12ga. 2.75"
PRIMER: Rio209
PROPELLANT: Alliant Blue dot 37.0 Grains
WAD: Mg42
SHOT: 1-3/8 oz. lead #5 /#7 1/2= 1/2 and 1/2
FOLD CRIMP: 6-point
Result: PSI 11600 FPS 1300

BUT, we have used these too with good success:

Theses seam to have the most recoil

jumpy Pheasant

HULL: Cheddite 12ga. 2.75"
PRIMER: CH209
PROPELLANT : IMR 800X 29.0 Grains
WAD: Mg42
SHOT: 1-3/8 oz. Lead #5X 7 1/2
FOLD CRIMP: 6-point
Result: PSI 12000 FPS 1300

I hate to use buffer, PIA

hard Pheasant

HULL: CHEDDITE 12-gauge 2.75”
PRIMER:Ch209
PROPELLANT: HODGDON UNIVERSAL CLAYS 28.0 Grains
WAD: MG42
SHOT: 1-3/8 ounce lead NP#6 and, #5, or #4
BUFFER = 10 gr.
FOLD CRIMP: 6-point
Result: PSI 12000 FPS 1315

I have both hulls but I like the way the Rio crimp a bit better.
They all pattern well in our guns with a full choke.
I was just wandering any one else's thoughts.
AND yes there Duplex shot loads and I'm staying with that concept!!!

I thought it was very strange that you loved a dwelling having apartments with separate entrances for two households (Duplex)... Now I realize it is the brand of load you like

Not the brand but two sizes of shot stacked in the shot cup.

I don't know anything about reloading.

I used to load Winchester AA hulls with 1 3/8 oz of #5 that had a mv of 1330 fps. Cannot remember the powder or the wad but it was devastating on ducks and geese. AA hulls are in my opinion the easiest hulls to reload and have an 8 point crimp. When waterfowl hunting went to steel shot, I quit reloading and moved away from easy access to a trap range. Sold my reloader and all the shot, wads, hulls and powder I had.

Now I buy a couple of cases of Federal 3" #4's and a case of AA #8's per year. Every so often a case of 3/12" BB.

Wish you could fit that much steel in a AA. Believe most you can fit is 1 oz with steel. Do loaf lots of them for dove in fall. Holler if you want some rolled up.

I haven't had much use for duplex loads but , I do like some loads with 800X . I also load some Longshot loads in 1 1/4 oz
and 1 1/8 oz as well .....speedy I might say to ! I also don't need more than 1 1/4 oz of mid-size lead shot for upland birds
with a full choked barrel as my loads will knock them down as far as I can hit'em .
I load a lot of Rio's / Cheddite hulls but prefer to Gaep them for consistency ......some Buffered Too !

1 1/8oz NP#5 for pheasant and chickens, 1500fps or better, great long distance load with my M. ! oz 7.5s for dove and quail. My experiences have not been as good with heavy payloads, 1 1/8 oz has given me great patterns.
