Black powder brass

Loaded these for a friend, first time loading brass or black powder. 1 1/8oz lead #4 using Hodgdon 777. Excited to see how they shoot.

What is done to seal the end of the hull? How much blackpowder does it take?

These are 58 gns, around 1000 fps. A 10 ga shot card is placed over shot and sealed with finger nail polish.

Sweet. I am thinking bout shooting some birds with BP this year. I would like to roll crimp the ends, but mine is plastic, don't want to ruin it on brass hulls.

That's pretty sweet. Those for an old double or lever action? I'm curious to see if the nail polish and no crimp will be enough to hold the other round(s) together when the first one goes off.

It is for an SxS, a lever or any repeating gun would require a crimped head. Am wondering the same thing, my only roller is plastic, for paper or plastic hulls. Will get a metal one if needed, but hopefully this works fine.

Only one way to find out. I wonder if you added more of something to the load so it fills the case up further, if then your roll crimper could be used to do just a light taper crimp?
