I just ordered a bem one and have a black one. Don't want this one anymore. But if it don't go, I'm thinking I'm going to cut the barrel down and see how it runs.

Not even close. The Shore Thing will do it all from whisper clucks to screaming honks and all the trick notes inbetween. I have it tuned to a medium tone, not to high or low. That paticular TG is loud. Not shrill high pitched but medium in the tone part, loud in the volume. I've tried tuning it several different ways, different types of reeds and shaves on the reeds, but it I can't get much low end out of it. At least not like I can out of a TC, G Overhauler, Super Mag, or Pro Super Mag or any of my other brand calls for that matter.

Far better IMO, I haven't found a great RNT goose call yet. I just want a DB to go in the collection w/ the KP. Compared to the KP, the real thang is a totally different type of call. The KP is a deeper more hollower sound. THe Dirty Bird is good little call, not as loud as I thought but it has nice higher type of pitch to it. The real thang compared to the DB is louder, goosier and faster. How do you like that tune up I did on the DB?

You're not missing anything by not trying one. The dr-85 for a cheap plastic double reed isn't a bad call. There honker calls, suck even the newer short reed. I'd take a bicycle horn in the field if all I had was a haydels honker call.

I have to pick it up at the PO tomorrow but I will let you know as soon as I try it.

How could you let them produce shitty goose calls at a company you worked for? We could all be using the Haydels Dustin Walker goose call if you had spoke up.

Hell yea, I used a dr-85 for 10 years, now have a vt-90.

I recommend the Southern goose calls to anyone who hasn't tried them.

That's all haydels does, as well as pretty much every mass produced "call maker". Hell that's pretty much all RNT does except there parts aren't molded, they're cnc'd.

That's how I felt about that GVCC PCS. Have you ever tried drilling a small hole in the tone board, just under the tip of the reed? I do that to all mine, and it lets them break over a lot "harsher", almost adding another note in between on the break. Maybe something to try just for grins, if you haven't. Guy up near Easton showed me that trick.

In the hollow half-bowl, just under the tip of the reed. Go down into the "bowl" from the flat upper half a little more than 1/8". I use the small round Dremel engraving tip. Looks like a small ball on a spike, I'd say it's maybe a little more than 1/8", also. Depending on the guts, you should be able to run it in quite a ways. If you don't have a Dremel, an 1/8" drill bit will work, just use a metal-type bit, not a brad-tipped bit. You DO NOT want to go all the way through the guts. You're just adding a divot, so to speak, 1/8 big, 1/8" down, and a little more than 1/8" deep. Deeper if you think you can without going through the back of the guts.

Do this on the front wall of the gut just under the worn in reed groove, on the worn in reed groove or on the bottom of the tone channel in the gut?
