Eric, you're not feeding them, you're training them. I suspect there's no law which says "you may not train wild geese". Keep, or raise, perhaps, but not "train". What are you training them for? For the fun of it, of course.

What you can't see in the pics was that every adult there was banded. The youngins actually had their face patches showing through already.

Actually, in the picture with the mouth open, in the shadow by the belly where it meets the water you can see the band.

I got two band numbers

Just reported as a sighting. Usually get one or two a year. Its crazy how tame they act this time of year. I'm not sure if MB has ever been to Jacques Cartier state park, but the geese there borderline molest you to get some of your food.

Reminded me of a photo a friend brought to our camp titled "Primitive Weapon Hunt". In it our friend, who has permits to keep wild species, is crouched down feeding some of his birds corn from one hand, while holding a hatchet behind his back with the other.

I've seen a few couples with full color goslings already. I saw a couple nesting already in mid march with ice still on about half the marsh.

Your from Michigan right? Everything is faster/bigger/more unpredictable there.
