Great picture. The gun looks like an 870

Thinking back, I believe it was an 835. Think he would be embarrassed if I asked him to update it to my O/U?

no way. That'd be like asking da Vinci to fix Mona Lisa's smile

And if any numb skull is thinking about making any kind of off comment or joke about my daughter I recommend thinking very hard on the possible consequence ;)

This was my wife's first hunt that goes with jehlers story. I think Jake was only 5 months old at that time so he very well could have been wrestling Jr for that goose.

I think we hunted about a year before that. This was the same year we really hit the orchard next to the golf course.

I love the desert (so does Layniebug), but hated it because we were away from the family for so long. Everybody made the best of it, though. Life is full of necessary evils.

Thanks man. We went last weekend and set up in the marsh with layout blinds. He had a ball but all we killed were skeeters. I was ready to go by 8 after not even hearing a goose honk and it getting hot. He told me it wasnt time to go and that we had to sit and wait the birds out. Five minutes later the birds flew. I think I'll keep a spot in the blind for him. :D Taking him on a corn field hunt on the 22nd. I have to work on the water this weekend. He wasnt happy when I told him we werent going.

That was one thing I loved about it- all the public land. You could pretty much go 4-wheeling and shooting any damn where you pleased.

what were the temps like dan? from the looks of the snow in the pixs I would guess middle-upper 20's???

We were in Valdez, and if I remember correctly it wasn't cold...right about where you guessed.

They're set up to handle the snow-3' of snow overnight? No problem, didn't even close the schools.
Last time we were in NC, the schools were closed for 3 days-because the forecast called for snow....and they never got a flake.

If there is a chance of and type of slim possibility of icy roads EVERYTHING gets shut down here
