Only if you consider 59" of snow in 48 hours brutal.
(at one point in that stretch they got 39" in 24 hours)

Lol

That sounds horrible! I like a few inches of snow to chase roosters in or make decoys stand out with good hiding in a corn field, but that is overkill. Hunted western Ks a few years ago when they had 40" of snow over a week or so period, was never above freezing for any of it to melt. Birds had tunnels and mazes under the snow in milo and tumbleweed fields, it was crazy.

I agree 100%, every pic I look at I imagine what was behind the scenes, who forgot their shells that day, who almost fell in, who was the guy shitting his waders all morning and stinking out the blind. how many wifs took place and how much trash talking, how many cold shivers of exitement and goosebumps....

I love threads like these. That's the one big drawback of hunting alone- few, if any, pics. Oh well.

this was jr's first successful goose hunt as far as i can remember (not him hunting just along for the ride). jgun was there with his not yet wifey. we were hunting a small corn or sorgum feild that was tucked between two orchards, the geese had been hammering the feild and it was early season so they were coming in small family groups. honestly couldnt ask for a better set up, just sit under a tree eating apples off it until the geese come. i had given jr a lecture on how important it is to hide but more important yet is to be still, if someone says "geese" or "here they come" you gotta freeze, no matter where your at just freeze and stay still...

after the first group of birds came in and jeremy shot all 9 "he's a claimer" jr goes running out to get a goose. there was one goose that still had some life left in him and jr took after him, caught him then started battleing him back. just then more geese come in, Jgun yells geese and there's jr holding the goose up by its neck froze, trying not to move a muscle, he can barely pick up the goose let alone hold it up and the goose is flapping away and beating the living hell out of him. I can't remeber wether or not we shot at that group of geese but I will never forget that look of excitement/fear/anger in jr's little eyes as he tried to not move with that goose in his hands

widh they would have invented digital cameras a little sooner, i'm going to have to dig out some of the early years if i can find them.

I used to love hunting alone, now not so much, its just a matter of finding the right group of assholes to hunt with.

I like seeing the pics with kids, brings back a lot of good memories. This is one of my favorites, a drawing my nephew did of me hunting with my lab Moose, and britt Buck, notice the sweet gun I am using.

Thinking back, I believe it was an 835. Think he would be embarrassed if I asked him to update it to my O/U?
