This is a terrible pic I took it with my iPone from to far away.
This Bald Eagle came by and picked up a Widgeon before I could get a pic.
So I watched him eat it and start soaring again.
we had a pair of mallards come in and dropped them and I waited with the Camara Phone ready and sure enough he came back for the entree and I got him.

This one tried to steal a red fox I had trapped, but got himself caught in the other trap at the set. Serves him right, poaching bastard.

I still get a little fibrillation when I think of coming around that corner that morning.

Sorry, Leg, I didn't mean to hijack your thread. It was one of the high points of my life, getting him out of that trap with nothing but my Carhartt jacket and the shakes, after I realized that USFWS wasn't going to send a SWAT team after me.

Totally off the subject but I was just thinking about your story and what I bet was your surprise.
And it reminded me of a few years back my kids were raising silky chickens and man are they prolific.
So we had 60 or so on the ranch and they started disappearing.
They got down to a half dozen or so and I knew I had to do something.
I figured it was a fox.
So I killed one of the remaining birds and hung it about 4' off the ground.
Under it I set four leg traps.
About 2am I heard one heck of a commotion out back and headed out as fast as I could.
In the traps were two full grown German Shepard's.
One with two feet in two separate traps and one with one foot caught.
So I calmed them down and made sure they weren't going to turn on me , got them out and jumped on my four wheeler and followed them.
They headed through the orchards and ended up at a neighbors house 1/2 mile down the road.
We had a talk and they never came back.
But I was sure surprised that morning when I found them.

Never worry about that with me my friend , enjoyed picturing it and then I think I would have looked over my shoulder as well.lol

In fact I have a buddy who works for PG&E and he with out saying to much his work takes him places not to many guys go.
So he's near these cliffs on the coastal range and sees something weird.
After investigating it was the carcass of a eagle he looks down and found this.
Notice the brad because their beak are so strong.
Anyway he had it buried in his shop afraid DFG was going to get him.
I asked if he called it in and he said are you crazy.
So I got the info , location, date ect. and called it in for him in my name and he wouldn't take it back. Lol
