Road trip

Postby NuffDaddy » Thu May 16, 2013 10:46 pm

Delivered a boat today with the boss to a boathouse with one of the best collection of classic mahogany race boats in the world.

This is by far the highest valued boat of its kind. 1931 40' long custom built garwood...Peckham v-12 2025 cubic in engine. 60+ mph.

This boat was built by my boss's dad. Powered by a WWII 12 cylinder Allison aircraft engine.

The engine in this boat is a inline 12 cylinder with straight dry pipes.

The guy that owned them all died, and I believe over half have been sold already and were moved out. Some sold for near 2 million.

Every time I see someone put a dog in a boat like that, I am blown away...

I wouldn't want to own one, but those wood boats are gorgeous. True works of art, like TKs haiku

Why thank you flight control!

This thread gives me some inspiration....haiku, anyone?

Woddy, what do you think of my clumsy elephant riding in my pintail?

Some people have way too much money and enjoy spending it on things that help no-one but give "status" to their owners.
Kinda like the art crowd. To a working man it makes NO SENSE AT ALL.
Building something that has almost no use...like a corvette for instance.
How many duck hunters need a corvette?
Where does the shotgun, dog, and decoys go?

Those boats get my comment of, "THAT'S NICE".

See: the that's nice joke. 8-)

When I was a kid we had a mahogany boat. Working on it sucked. Special varnishes etc. and it had to be done every year.
I HATED that boat because it took all my time working on it. My dad made me n my brothers do all the work.
I've heard that it's incredibly stupid to fuck around with a crazy man's head.

They are for rich guys that ran out of stuff to spend money on. Most of them boats don't have 10 hours on them since they've been restored.
