Ever have one of them days?
Yesterday I had mine.
I decided I'd like to "try" making donuts. Got a recipe and started in...
About that time is when my beautiful loving wife showed up in her jammies looking up at me with them blue-jean blue eyes. A bit pouty saying, "can I help?" like a 4-yr-old.

How could I say, "I don't know what the fuck I'm doing next so how can I tell you what to do so you can help?"...so I muttered "ok".

She gets all the bowls, measuring cups, spoons and starts washing them. I'm halfway thru the recipe...I'm like, "why in the hell are you washing the stuff I need?". Sigh...I held it in.
Instead I asked her to get the oil out.

She took a while finding it and had to "TAH DAHHHH" me with it.

I poured the oil into the skillet. She "helped" by tossing the empty bottle. I didn't catch that.
Now it's the next day and I have to dig thru the trash to get the damned bottle so I can clean up last nights donut mess in the skillet.


The instant my wife fucking goes into "help" mode she has to be told everything she does or it will be fucked up. Like her brain shuts down and she's afraid to think. Gets this deer in the headlight look and then...the hurt feelings. I have had to help her fill out the form so many times...getting old.

I skip straight to the report now. "Can I help?" ..."NO! go but you can go get another HFR."
She replies and says something like, "you can be married to me, or you can be dead"."You promised and I have a license to fuck with you".

I gotta ask. How do you know what 17-hour old gas station coffee tastes like? Did you time it?

I worked at a gas station (back in the days of full service, having to run a credit card into the store to run it, replacing wipers, and checking oil). I not only timed it, but I was the one that made it, more often than not. In a hurry to leave for the night? Just leave the coffee there. Back in in the morning with a hangover? Turn the heater back on and wait a bit (no microwave, because there really weren't very many of them at the time).

So, yep- I've had plenty of 17 hour old, burnt gas station coffee.


(I just realized this was over 30 years ago. Holy fuck.)

Complained about good coffee before...maybe i am poor n stupid enuff for nascar after all.

Gunna have to make something sweet in camp. Skillet, oil, flour, yeast, sugar, salt, eggs, cinnamon and a few odds n ends make such sweet stuff. Have one of them coleman ovens...the possibilities.
Having smart-phone to look up recipes got me started on baking. Biscuits was just the beginning.
Can't believe I never baked bread until I was 50+.
