The ease of putting it together was a bonus on not having a background check.

Don't think they had metal, but it was eplowers.com.

Yeah, the "ep" I think is for "extruded plastic".

Well, that's no fun, is it. Although I'm wishing now that I would have waited, and got a desert tan one instead of another black one. But at the time, all they had was pink and black. I still need to email them and see if it can be painted.

Screw it! Rattle can the whole thing. With no serial number it'll look stolen anyways.

wait- are you guys saying they make plastic UPPERS also? This whole time I thought you'd been talking about lowers. I think. I was very tired there for a couple days, with the drive and new puppy.

Yup, the Bushmaster Carbon 15 is plastic from the ground up. I've actually never taken the time to look inside one, but I've seen other plastic lowers that were ALL plastic. Trigger, hammer, the works...

Sportsman's warehouse guys have the best BS to sling, but to be honest i did think it was CF, it looked and felt like CF anyway. At this point, I'm pretty committed to buying Bravo Company or Colt based on independent research of BCGs and barrel shot peen testing. They do legitimately have some CF barreled rifles that i will not recommend to anyone, not even noobs to the rifle game. at the very least, i recommend a RRA rifle or a Stag. Both are fairly good quality, and won't shit the bed like the stuff that Sportsman's endorses, i'd be embarrassed to be associated with their "gun guys".

My military M16 had a very basic BCG made by the lowest bidder. I can't even begin to count how many hundreds of thousands of rounds it had had through it. I think most people over-buy by about a factor of 5, but that's just my opinion, and more power to anyone to do whatever they want.

carbines with a 4.2 ounce (H2) buffer can shoot 2,000 rounds just fine, if you haven't stripped it by then you're a fucktard and deserve it.

This reminds me of a shotgun thread.

Fact is, I don't care what anyone shoots.
What is right for me is a traditional AR platform in .223 I have done my research and that is my conclusion.

For the record my Bushmaster and Colt AR's didn't shoot or feed as good as the DPMS uppers I have owned. My current slick side carbine is by far my favorite. But it should be, I built it for ME.
