Well, if you're that young just take your time learning the game and be careful. The rest will eventually fall into place. And don't get discouraged when things don't go your way, some of the guys around here have been hunting as long as you've been alive and still only get that many birds.

Just an FYI, He's in Oregon, so I don't think he knows where to hunt in Maryland.

I'm on the wrong side of the country to be helpful.
Got any uncles or family members that hunt that can take you?

My favorite thing to do is hunt in the morning till around 11:30, then get up and start looking for ducks to sneak up on and jump shoot. I will do this until about 2:00, then I will either go back to my old spot, or set up in a new spot based on how good the hunting was in the morning. But I believe in some states it is illegal to shoot ducks on the water, so be careful.

What? How do you kill them if they aren't on the water?

Get a good quality call, learn to do a really long hail call and use it often. Trust me, I'm kind of a big deal when it comes to duck calls and calling.

You might also consider hiring a guide in eastern md to take you and your dad. Could help shorten the learning curve.
