what is you dogs name and why?

The current big dog at our house, a 16yr-old Brittany, is registered as Dash of Cayenne for the red spots in his coat and spice I hoped his big-wheeled breeding would bring to our hunting. Call named Kie, with the spelling borrowed from an old friend's name to avoid folks thinking "Kay".

The Chesapeake more here are familiar with was slated to be registered as Bon Chance (Good Luck) in honor of how I came about acquiring him and hoped from him, but the French pronunciation of Chance (Chaunce) was apparently close enough to a predecessor, Chien (Dog), that I'd get tongue-tied using it and frequently enough settle for "little 'peake" that the grandkids started calling him "Peake" and it stuck. Was later registered as Coyote In The Woodpile for the pup's resemblance to those cousins afield.

Pffttt, I don't buy into all that. Best lab I ever had was one somebody ditched by my old house. Named her Wendy b/c the only way I got her to come to me was with a wendys burger. Nova, the one that recently died, is the only dog I've ever had with papers.
