I knew someone that bought a barge on there once. It was a local item though and he got to look at the barge in person. Was also the only one to bid on it.

Sent from my phone.

Some of the guys in south Florida buy the heavy duty military trucks to make mud buggies out of the frames and drivetrains.
Couple of fellas I know have bought from the government auctions with good results.

I tried. I bid on a 5 Ton about 8 months ago. Didn't win it, unfortunately. The registration process is a pain in the ass. You have to give a credit card and your social, and they verify you by basically running a credit check. It took a couple days, if I remember right. I don't know anybody who has actually won anything, and if you're not on there when it ends, you don't know what it sold for. At least I didn't, which sort of pissed me off. The listing just "disappears". My bid was only $500, though, but considering it started at $150, I wasn't too concerned that I was lowballing.

I still want a 5 Ton, though.

Couple of years ago there were hundreds, maybe thousands of FEMA trailers left over from Katrina that had never been occupied on the GSA auctions. Some guys here bought quite a few real cheap and made camps in the Everglades out of them.

I saw that too, figured it was a typo but would be worth a call to verify.

There are companies out there based on buying this stuff, they always wait for the last minute to bid. Check those outboards after they finish the auction and see how much they really sold for.

There is a reason that those vehicles have low miles...they sit a lot. And I've always have believed that not running a industrial vehicle is harder on it then running one with proper maintenance. Also some of that equipment was used and abused by soldier that could jack up a crowbar in a sandbox. As always, buyer beware.

True, but I could get more than $500 in scrap for a 5 Ton.
