They fly at around 3200fps and are very consistent round to round for a factory load. As for 165grn or 180grn, regardless of the round you choose, shoot both and see which is best in your gun. I know people who swear by 180grn shoots the best groups and others who say 165grn is best in theirs.
It's about round placement if the heavier round groups better then thats great but, it; isn't needed. We've shot plenty of elk with .270 130grn and they are just as dead if you hit them right.
Hell, the .06 in 150 grn will get it done. My first ever gun killed elk was with a 30-30 Win model 94'. Hit it square in the shoulder and it didn't take another step.
