What is the mindset of someone like that? Is it perhaps that our low expedition citizens brought the situation upon themselves so screw them but those people who do not have our social welfare system need our help?

Isn't it fortunate that we seem to be able worry about others and not have to worry as they do about feeding ourselves?

Beef - You must think this lady is worth something (looks, intelligence, sex, money or a combination of things) to go through this agonizing decision process of what to do and how to handle it. Ask her if she voted for or supported Obama and if she did, drop her like a hot potato.

I never said she doesn't care about helping the needy in this country. she would say its unfortunate that the corporate/political entitlement culture is as troublesome as the entitlement mentailty of folks who don't work. There's two sides of the coin. she seems to be quite the moderate on many issues. I just hate the idea of her being some martyr for third world people that would just as soon as kidnap her for ransom or worse. She is a southern bell who grew up on a farm and I don't blame anyone who voted for obama during his first election cycle. She is a huge ralph nader fan and was rooting for ron paul on the last go around, primarily for his foreign policy ideals (not his deregulation of enviro laws).

Ok, so she's all for our government not interfering in foreign countries, but she wants to interfere in foreign countries. Makes sense.

It doesn't make sense to equate the malaria bug net intiative she speaks of and the her dislike of the iraq war, but it is an interesting point. That's the type of assa ammo I'm looking for tho. Doubt she'll see any hypocrisy in it tho.

It doesn't matter. Malaria kills africans. Saddam kills Iraqis. One we send nets to. The other we dig out of a hole and hang down a stairwell. Tell that hypocritical woman to go pound sand and find you a woman who wants to fish and kill stuff. You'd be better off, anyway, before this current one runs off with some Flemish medical supplies delivery driver working for Doctors Without Borders who stinks of patchouli.

I don't even believe we went to iraq to save their citizens from saddam. She surely doesn't.

And I wouldn't call her a hippie. She's on this diet called paleo. She loves the fresh meat and fish I get.

You don't HAVE to believe it, you just have to say it to show her how wrong she is. Pretend to believe it for a little bit. At the very least, you'll end up talking about Iraq for a while instead of starving African children.

Although this reminds me of the Dave Chapelle skit where he has a Chinese tennis shoe sweatshop in his garage.

My fiance did the paleo thing for a month or two last winter. Tried to get me to do it for a few weeks. She got bored with that phase eventually
