Any hunters shoot with one eye closed?

Any hunters shoot with one eye closed with their shotgun due to cross dominant problems? How does it work for you? I'm right hand dominant left eye dominant.

Only when I'm trying really hard to hit something! It helps if you stick your tongue out a little too.

Seriously, I have no advice on a cross dominant condition, maybe practice at a trap field?

My son shoots with his one eye closed. He's been working at the trap feild with both open. But with his one eye closed he can hang with anyone on the wing. The only problem with him and his one eye closed is he tell me , it has limited him on getting triples and sometime's double's do to limited feild of veiw when having one eye closed. So he just shot one bird at a time when he could have probley picked up a second or a third bird, He still shoots good for a kid but he wants to shoot with both eye's open. My advice would be to close your left eye, when shooting right handed. Work on shooting left handed it would probley pay off in the long run. I'm a lefty also.

I shoot with both eyes closed. Guns are scary.

My eye dominance change late in life and it was easier to squint than shoot lefty. Folks say that creates a depth perception problem, and that may be so, but I've not noticed it.

I am right handed left eye dominant but I shoot left handed and have been doing it that way for as long as I can remember. I keep both eyes open and focus on the target.

Are you supposed to shoot with both eyes open? I'm going to have to try that next time I go hinting, might save me some shells.

You aren't "supposed" to shoot anyway, it's all personal preference I believe, I close 1 eye and have shot clays and all
Things with a shotgun wonderfully my whole life!! Shoot however you want, it's all ur choice

I prefer both eyes open when I'm on the trap line, or else I don't think I'd as quick and smooth to the target that I am now. One way to fix your cross dominance problem is, if you were contacts, take the dominant eyes contact out for about a month. What this does is strength the coordination in your right eye, therefor evening the "power" so to speak. Now it might be better off just to stay the way you are. Many people in the young life of Nora Ross tried to get her to shoot with both eyes open. Well if you look at her now, she is still a one eyed shooter and an All-American Trap Shooter who has won titles men have yet to win. Hope this helps!

thank you! I think I will stay using one eyed. I can hit clays and game doing so.
