Yea you and 500 other people.

The high on Thursday is supposed to be -1. We can only hunt geese till 2 so I have low expectations on whether the birds will fly before shooting time.

Gay!

Our public lands only shoot Saturday, Sunday and Wednesday's. if I didn't hunt private land I would only be able to hunt 3 days every 2 weeks. That shit wouldn't fly with me.

And you guys give me shit for not being able to hunt on Sunday. Those are some of the dumbest regs ever. And this coming from the People's Republic, home of the Rain Tax.

I have never seen such a strange rule. Ran into when I was out there this fall.

8 dark geese a day, but you gotta kill them before 2.

Blew my mind when I read it. Do you know the rationale behind that?

I'm going to be taking the drive up to freeze out friday night if the roads aren't horrendous. I still need to get 600 pounds of sand on the axles before I even consider driving 150 miles on ice. I'm either going to have a hell of a time or I'm going to be shitting myself every second. Only time will tell... :?:

That isn't a state reg, it's at the refuges, which make up most of the public land in the central valley. If I hunt the lake near my house I can hunt every day of the week, on public land.

I wish our refuges were more regulated. They get hunted every day of the week from daylight to dark. Only quiet time is from 12-1 when parties are switching out for the PM hunt. Birds learn to only feed at night within the first few days.

Their reasoning was to give the birds a rest.

Shot all three of my deer, packed out 2 elk that weren't mine, and shot a cow 4 times behind the shoulder before running over the mountain top, headed for Timbuktu. But two guys from Butte shot the cow 3 more times before putting her down for good. Kinda pissed me off that some young cow like that could be that tenacious to life...

Why Canadas and nothing else? They don't need a rest here.

Just seemed funny that you can shoot 4x as many as in Wisconsin, but oh hell no, you ain't hunting after 2pm.

Yeah, because there's a shortage of Canada geese in this world.

Believe me, if the opportunity persisted, no doubt I would have sent a 140 gr. pill to pop her head like a melon.

Yep pretty odd. Snows and ducks are an all day deal. I wish we could hunt canadas all day. Our early season limit is 15. I doubt they are under populated.
