I need to be in the "mowing duck clubs property" business. Apparently, there really is one born every minute.

Yup. And their are plenty of outfits that do that. I heard of a couple of clubs that spend 20 to 30k in mowing every summer.

What the fuck are they mowing? Buy a tractor with a brush hog and go to town.

That's probably what they mean by mowing. But I don't doubt the club houses at these places have amazing landscaping as well.

And it costs 20K? I'm sure they have a longer growing season than MI, but we have about 5 miles of trails and 5 acres of field that we brush hog 3 times a year at our deer camp. Takes maybe 2-3 hours and a couple gallons in the old Ford.

Like olly said, most of them prob have landscapes and lawns that rival the whitehouse gardens and scapes.

That's the stuff that pisses me off. Same way with universities. I pay 10K a year to go to school, then they blow ungodly amounts of money and useless gardens, ponds, fountains, statues, buildings.
I guess if you're rich you don't really care though.

Most clubs in our area use the nature kind of mower , they are called Cows ! They seem to mow-down everything you
don't want mowed and if they're still in the field you're hunting , they stand 30 yds away and watch what you're doing !
If we could use Cow Blinds , it would be better hunting but , there are Bulls in the field also and that could be a Rear-ending
experience ?

I guess You gotta see it to understand. Think of a field with the nastiest tule, smartweed, watergrass and button wollows. A solid 1000 acres worth. Tall and thick enough that it takes 2 massive tractors 20, 12 hour days to do the rough mowing and a medium size tractor the same amount of time to do the finish work around the blinds. That type of work makes for alot of problems for any operator. Equipment is constantly braking down. With high temps and the radiators getting blocked up every 30 minutes. It is really a pain in the ass job to do. Water comes off those clubs in mid June, and flooded back up on September 1. So by the time the ground is hard enough to hold the equipment and not sink its a mad dash. Every body has about a month to get all their shit. Because water is on its way no matter if your ready or not. So they find it cheaper and a less of a headache to have the bulk of the mowing done by someone else, and have their caretakers do the shit right around the blinds.

They're selling one of the clubs here, it's a island that is about 90 acres of marsh with a clubhouse and a tiny little pond that hasn't produced a dead duck in over 10 years. Think they want about $900,000 for it. Every time we have a decent hurricane, the clubhouse has water in it.

Is that the one over by Stockton, or do you guys have one down there, too? I know a bunch of knuckleheads were trying to peddle a marsh island off the bay by Stockton/Girdletree for some insane amount of money. They must have had to time the listing to coincide with a low tide so they wouldn't have to take a pic with 3 feet of water in the club house.

There's a bunch of clubs down here, that one is a couple miles from the main island that we live on.

Other than it being a historic hunt club, I don't see why anyone would want to own it. The only way you could run a duck club there would be to have decent open water blind locations in the surrounding area and they are all locked up already.
