I've used bowlines for decoys for years, don't know anything quicker, much less "better" - except rigging with 400lb test mono when applicable.

I tie, what I call, a slip knot on the ones that have nylon. Basically an overhand knot going all the way around the main line that allows it to slide. As long you put a knot in the tag end it won't come untied at all. It's just so fast and easy to tie. A real bitch to untie though with small line and pulled really tight.

Believe that is called an arbor knot, knot of choice for tying fishing line to your reel.

i like sitting in the blind and instead of firing up the boat and moving all around flaring birds just waving goodbye to unhinged decoys. drives my buddies crazy and theyre not even theirs.

Ha! Its true though. These days if its not one of my herters I aint chasing it until i have to go out for a bird. if it aint around I say fuck it. Ive chased so many in my day that i know what your sacrificing i.e., relaxtion, birds, etc etc. I say to my buddies i didnt wake up balls early and risk my life to get here to just start wrangling decoys all morning, they goneeee, relax. I remember one time my buddy bought some line that would not hold a knot. super slippery string and after we got back into the blind and the sun started showing it was evident that all dozen of the new ringnecks we rigged we're sailing.

You might be the only person I've met who has problems with decoys coming untied.

I remember in boot camp so many guys didn't know how to tie a tie. The first time we had to wear the trop longs with the tie I was handed a pile of ties and tied them all and they shined my low quarters as a trade. I think I tied about 30 ties that morning.

I wonder how many guys are still using that same knot I did 7 years ago

I used to tie em but that was in the 1980's. I may have worn a suit and tie ten times in the last 25 years.
Used to wear one every day.
