That strategy is ok if you were a general in the American civil war. Use that technique on public waterfowl hunting grounds and see where it gets you. I know people who it.
My MO is to put myself at least a half mile away from "it".
Want nothing to do with hunting 15 boat fulls of people in two timber holes.
It's easy to find the "mess". Just follow a boat or wait til shooting light and listen.

Once had a NWR manager suggest avoiding the boat race, going out at daylight, observing where the shooting is and moving in when limited hunters moved out. Not a bad plan at all on his refuge.

The days when we had ducks working right the race was to a certain spot. 17/18 of the boats went there. Not me.
Typically there are days when everyone ends up where someone said the ducks were yesterday. This year if I'd followed the "where they killed em yesterday" routine I'd have killed half as many ducks, I'm certain. I watch the boats come in and there was a lot of zeros this year. If I was killing em, everyone else was in general but not always.

I try to stay about a mile away from the big competition and skyblasters etc. Makes me feel like I have 18 square miles of timber to myself.
