Cold front hits South Texas

Postby Laguna Madre » Tue Dec 11, 2012 10:35 pm

Thank God a cold front finally made its way this far south. It dropped the temperature to a blistery 55 degrees and as far as I can see it pushed some ducks down here to the end of the Central Flyway. The cooler temps will keep the kite boarders away so the hunting should pick back up in my cove. One of my fireman buddies asked if I wanted to go hunting today and I would have loved to only I tested positive for the Type A Influenza yesterday and got sent home from work so I don't contaminate the whole office.

I told him he could give it a try and he came back with this.

He said the pintails and redheads were back in my cove which makes me think they are birds that have been pushed down in front of the front. He said it would have been easy to get 3 or 4 limits of sprigs and redheads but he was hunting by himself so could only get 2 and 2. Hopefully this flu bug will be out of here by the weekend because we're heading to the slough on Saturday. Hope everybody is doing well.

Pins and reds make such a nice bag.

So what you are saying is that you are going to be a facemask guy this saturday? I'd probably lay off the calls as well and let the other guys do that, who will no doubt want to be up wind of you.
