Biologists seem to have somewhat of a handle on how many and where dabbling ducks live, their food preferences, habitat and all things dabbling duck related. However, it is not very often the talk about diver ducks and their habits etc.. I wonder about species like : Bufflehead, Ringers, Blue Bills both G&L, and then you add in Sea ducks like Eiders, Scoters etc., these species are rarely addressed so do they not know how many of them there are? I can tell you up here on Erie guys slam the Butterballs. Ive seen layout boats put 8 guys/day thru the boat and they will kill 48 BUtterball not every day but it happens frequently. At some point the population is going to be affected but how many of them are there anyways. I don't think they know. I do think that no bird, no matter what it is ( with the exception of mergies) should be allowed 6/day. Help me out here fellas what do you think? What do they really know about the habits of divers and sea ducks?
