New truck time

I need a newer truck than my 2013 Silverado 1/2 ton, as my truck is rusting at an alarming rate. Frankly it's hard to believe that a truck less than 10 years old is already so far gone, but this thing has been a turd since approx. 50,000 miles. At 48,000 miles the cams and lifters went, and luckily it was still covered under warranty otherwise it was 3500 for the repair. Lots of small stuff went wrong too, like you cant roll any of the other windows down from the drivers seat as water drips in on the window control panel and has taken out the rest of the window controls. The truck uses 2-3 quarts of oil between oil changes with no apparent leaks underneath and nothing out the exhaust. The trucks engine ticks like a Singer sewing machine. I could go on but I wont. Now Im looking out west for a decent used rust free Toyota Tundra, I've been Chevy guy my whole life but no more now. What all do you guys drive and how do you like it, and hows the reliability. p.S. I change my oil every 5000 miles and have never towed a dam think with this P.O.S. :evil:

It's almost like i could've written that review Don. I'm in the same boat, and will be getting a Tundra for my next as well. 2007 1500 here, but at 132,000 miles i had to put a new engine in it. $5500. I think the main issue is that 5.3 engine. I'll never own another 5.3 liter GM motor again. Too many problems. Mine had a lifter seize, which then took chunks out of my camshaft. Mine uses oil too. Was told "that's normal" when i called GM to complain. News flash, that aint normal. Once i drive the wheels off of this thing, i'll be looking at a Tundra. Have friends with them who's only complaint is the poor gas mileage.

181,000 later my 2016 GMC SLT 4x4 Equipped with 5.3 Liter Engine is still going strong. What I have had problems with is front end tie-rod's and what not but to be fair I drive on some pretty bad roads both Parish and State here in Louisiana. Also replaced the rear end under warranty at 80,000 miles.

P.S. I'm going with the 6.2 Liter Engine next time just because I want the xtra power not that I really need it.

6.0s and 6.2s are really good motors. My Dad’s 1999 2500 6.0 has 360,000+ miles on it and still going. And that’s been under some pretty heavy use too pulling tractors, equipment, and horse trailers.

Having had the 5.3 pulling boats in past suburbans and tahoe's, and now have the 6.2 in my Yukon, it's night and day difference in towing capability at speed. The 5.3 always seemed to be working hard, the 6.2 gets up to speed for interstate and holds speed going up bridges.

This Era is the scuttling of the petro-dollar Era.
They set the whole thing up with the other two world wars and now it's time for a new thing the old thing isn't producing so they print tons of bills and buy stuff to make it appear as if things are working right. Inflation starts at the money machine. Press.
They aren't and haven't been playing right for generations now.
