I got into flocking goose decoys. Started a "help" thread and so far the helpers are not helpful they just throw rocks.
We're debating brush vs airbrush and I'm firmly in the airbrush camp now.

I did get someone to post videos of a guy painting fully flocked decoys.
He flocks then paints the flocking .
Peanut gallery went ...

I'm not much of a flocker, but have airbrushed and flocked enough to find it hard to imagine airbrushing being a good choice. But the time and decoys are yours.

I brushed and it's too thick and time consuming for me.
I get similar results with air and can cut in the fine line stuff like the patches and neck line by hand.
Speeds way up where I could do six a day easy if I worked at it. I'm working on 3 at a time now.
I'm experimenting and found that straight paint sprayed on is pretty perfect. Second or third coats are easy and very quick. Try it you'll like it.

Haven't done any white yet on the trio.if you don't appreciate fine flocking work like this YOU AINT BLACK.

Someone, not me, in the chain of possession on them flambeaus painted the tails black. I'm stuck with that too bad.

I'd done flocking before and it stayed on but I knew there's a better way than using a tiny flat art brush. So I opened my mind up to suggestions, took a few, made a decision based on input...but too fast you don't just turn a thread off...two years from now people will still be piling on to ridicule the choices I made based on my own personal experience trying the suggestions.
I determined that for me....the best way is an airbrush.
People who have never used one will deny that it even works.

So does everyone suggesting brushing is better. You're likely the only person in the known universe to have fooled with a tiny art brush.

Well... if you started flocking six drake mallards would you use two inch brushes?
Made sense at the time...

Don't mean to be a dick but this will appear dickish.
You paint them flat black then flocki it all black and you're done. Right?

Seriously I watched this kid doing it with big brushes and Damn he wants it soggy aa hell.
I tried that too.
He uses the ketchup bottle. I use a sifter.
Not saying any way is better but for me here in my safe space....rofl.....
Air brush and sifter is working great. Will see.
If it sucks I'll admit it next fall.

Came to say that "new zipper" is a good idea but can't let them fuge guys see me admit it. Lol..

Suppose them duck dicks showed back up.
Allegedly their group has to keep reforming under a new guise each time FB shuts it down.
Them Texas guys are trying the same thing I think.
Might get them to use here. Or not.

Things do change.

I believe they were before my time but have heard some funny stories of them. Maybe they’d at least provide some off-season entertainment as we enter the misery of summer.

He thought I wanted added to duck dicks.
I can't use Facebook.
In conversation he mentioned that FB keeps shutting them down so I mentioned this place is the wild west again sort of.
Might be fun getting them here.
.Mght be a pita too.
50:50....lol
Sigh...the good ole days. We all miss it in a way.
Unfiltered.

Assateague moved to Arizona. Woa

Ya gotta do what ya gotta do, and a 5-gal bucket is a helluva lot more comfortable than hanging dat azz over the side of the boat

My brother and I went out on a charter and fortunately we weren't too far outside the harbor, when my brother got the urge.

The captain scooped up some water in his 5 gallon emergency bucket.

Thankfully, we made a quick run back in to a convenience store with boat access and the bucket was not required.

But I did realize something. Add water first, it's going to clean up a lot better

A 5-gal bucket has saved me more than a few times, especially when in a pirogue, with no hard ground nearby
I carry my shells and extra stuff in a 5-gal hunting bucket with a swivel seat. I learned early on to keep a "quality" trash bag and paper towels in a ziploc just for the occasion.

Well, yeah.

Thankfully I have zero experience. Overside, yep. Bucket, thankfully no.

Pretty obvious once you think about it. Although, I tried to not think about it

Also, always keep the TP in a watertight bag. We had a trip where everything, including everything inside our blind bags got soaked. Great day of hunting. Not a drop of rain. Just spray from waves crashing over the boat on the long run back. My "safely" stowed TP was mush along with a few other things not meant to be submerged.

I don't know what I'm going to do this year.
List the negatives:
Brandon
Brandon
Brandon...lol
Next week my mother is having heart "something done".
She lies to both us and her doctors.
When we compare notes it's?!?!

She allegedly is getting a battery in a pacemaker swapped. That's a lie but I'm supposed to accept it.
My mother owns the house I live in and 4 others that I know of. One is a school She keeps her books in.
Weird but there's a vast vast hoard about to get dumped onto me.

I will probably cop an attitude just sayin.
Try and forgive me for it.
My world is about to get turned upside down completely.
To top it off....BRANDON. Damn.
