Come November it'll be balmy with southwest winds.

That probably mean in the panhandle where they have the soaring peaks of Florida that rise to over 300' above sea level.

That would make them southerners because Florida is upside down. North Florida is the deep south and the further south you go the more northern it becomes.

It was definitely chilly this morning. Geese all over the place for the last week or so. I wish they pushed our early goose season back just one week. Trimming our duck blind for opening day this past Sunday. Geese trading around just asking to be shot :( By opening day of regular season they'll be gorging on the picked beans. I trimmed the shoreline and there was a lot more poison ivy in it than I realized. Both forearms are covered in it itching like hell. At least I had gloves on, so I don't have it all over my hands.

Fels Naptha soap.

Tonight the moon is just a sliver.
Good for viewing thru your telescope if you have one.
Binoculars will work.
You get to see details on the mountains you normally don't notice because it's too bright.
Shadows and stuff show when it's just a sliver like tonight.

Found it!
Hunting requires hunting for stuff so you can hunt.
You hunt then come home and hunt for stuff some more.
Every once in a while you actually find what you need when you need it.
This could be really funny. Will see.

Tonight I went out to look at my timer and light I put on the chickens. Saw this pair of beady eyes staring back at me so I ran and grabbed my Gamo air rifle.
Mr Possum don't move no more.
Gamo....( you have to whisper it)

This thing is sweet.
I use it a lot boondocking.
Dry heat and it'll run about 24 hours on a fill.
I run it in my tent and then keep it going and use it in the blind too.
Handy as heck.
Old school catalytic heater.

After you buy a few gallons of Coleman fuel you discover Crown. It's nearly half as much.

I'd never thought of "paw balm".
This ad came with my dog stand.
Martha Stewart recommends it?
Yeah right. Pffffft.
I made my own.
I think it has avocado oil, bees wax, and cocoa butter in it.
Dog says it's tasty.

I am a great magician.
My dog is black.
20220930_060845.jpg

He really thinks I'll just pull a bumper out of my ass and go play at 6 am every day.
He's got me well-trained.
Erg...that chair. So ashamed.
Some day they'll throw another one away and she'll drag it home and I toss that one onto the old chair pile.
She gives me enormous grief over me dragging home old junk but this is "different".
I can wave $800 in her face and say " let's go buy you a new chair" and she will find another way to SPEND THAT MONEY.

You can kill the ones in my back yard.

I'll be after Bambi's great grandad tomorrow, but will happily settle for Bambi's momma for starters.

I may be feeling a bit over confident as in the past I would not have let Bambi's little sister pass, but tomorrow adult deer only and a buck has to be a new personal best which ain't that high of a bar, but where I'll be hunting, I can only take one antlered deer and it has to have at least 4 points on one side. So there are some really nice buck roaming around down there and I don't want to be done there for the season over a scrawny 7 point. The other places I hunt, I'd shoot a spikey because I'm allowed 2 buck per season so any adult buck will do for starters.

Bought an agri fab lawn sweeper.
Assembly instructions are in ten languages but the instructions are pictures.
Mine is a little "wonky". I think the hopper bag is not square or something is "korean".
Ten languages...not one word.

Had one pin in the wrong hole.
It was obvious once I got in the right frame of mind.
The thing actually works.

The bonus:
Was prepared to spend $289.99
and it was $199.99.
To not have to touch a rake is worth it.

That January icy pintail hunt...they invited me because of the two buddy heaters. I was allowed to shoot the.spoony while my "pals" shot a 12-man limit with 4 guns in the pit.
Naturally I was a bit nervous because I've been in an Arkansas jail before. It's not that bad but if you get put in with the violent offenders you're fucked.
They keep them separate in the "wild cage".

TACTICAL PINK
I've gotten some cool gifts from people online.
This one is pretty cool but not the best.
Tacticool. Yes.
It's like a damn Lego set of pieces in there but it'll clean pretty much any pistol or long gun.
Forget who sent it. Have had it several years.
I just cleaned my old 410 Gauge.

Ain't seeing a lot of waterfowl activity.
Geese are around but not moving much.
They're still eating grass I think.
Once I get some birds I'll shoot some video of greenheads at the sewage treatment plant.
Yum yum.

We are probably at peak goose right now. They are everywhere and moving around all day. Probably 1,000 of them at the sports complex my wife and I went walking at. All over where I hunt, but as soon as they start cutting beans, they will vanish from our duck blinds.

To diesel an air rifle put a tiny drop of wd40 into the cup of a pellet. The compression makes it combust like in a diesel engine and you get higher velocity on the pellet.
You can tell by the smell if it's working you smell smoke.
