Got frightened

Postby Mornin Beef » Wed Jan 02, 2013 7:14 pm

Haven't felt this scared in a long time. Got out of my truck and was trying to get my cell phone out to shine a light on my keys in the pitch black. That's when I hear what sounded like a girl screaming bloody murder for like 2 seconds. Thoroughly crapped my pants, froze and after about 5 seconds I hear dogs barking. Got to my front door quickly and these yotes start going buck wild. Realized they must have just killed a rabbit, but it shook me up good. Are you guys too tough for this story?

If it sounds like a teenage woman screaming a death knell, it's a screech owl. Horrible, horrible sound. Google it.

Thats actually pleasant sounding in comparison. It had to have been a eastern cottontail getting mauled.

Whoever appeals to the law against his fellow man is either a fool or a coward. Whoever cannot take care of himself without that law is both. For a wounded man shall say to his assailant, "If I live, I will kill you. If I die, you are forgiven." Such is the rule of honor.

At, I think your right about the screech being fully capable of sounding like what I heard...the barn owls around here generally just hoot a lot.

The first time I heard one of those echoing through the woods just after sunset was when I was deer hunting, about 14 years old. I peed a little.
