I went out today before a big storm came in and killed two shoveler one gad one buffle. I was just in a passing spot. They would not work the decoys and would not turn to calls. Do y'all have any tips

Be where the birds want to be. This late in the season they have been called at, shot at, mojo'd to death, seen about every decory spread there is. Hide really well and try to find the X if you can. If you are where they want to be you won't have to do much. I'd take 5 birds anyday this late in the season, congrats on the good late season hunt!

I was in a set at first light and the birds kept going to another spot. I left the spot and just hide in the grass so it worked good

SKYBLAST 'EM!!!

Get some blackcloud and a full choke and you'll be fine.

If you're the guy who hunted the marsh across from me the other day you blow the call harder.

Once we find where the birds are feeding the time of the season doesnt really matter. Its more important to be there whent he tide is right for them to feed. I know not everyone deals with tides but the same goes for any feeding spot. Be there when they want to be. If low tide is at 2pm we dont leave the dock until noon and are typically done by 4. Pattern your birds.

I have found that later in the season, the fewer decoys I use the better. Seems to work around here, I rarely use even a dozen.

Won't hurt to throw in a 10gauge with a 30" barrel too.

I wanted to shoot one just to say I shot one - honestly, I couldnt really tell you it was much different than a 3 1/2" 12 ga. I borrowed a friends Browning semi auto for a during our late snow goose season, its a nice gun and I may have killed an extra bird or two. Picture your 12 with a slightly bigger kick.

My buddy Jim use to have a single shot 10 gauge, I shot it once, never again. It kicked worse than my 300 Win Mag. I imagine semi auto would be much better.

Squeeze off a 10ga double with dual triggers, that will cure what ails ya. Most semis and pumps are so heavy the recoil is manageable compared to a 3.5" 12.

I shot a 50 bmg bolt action once. The muzzle blast blew my hat off my head. It was PFM!

I think the semis eat up even more of the recoil than a pump does because of the weight of the action.

Hell yea the semis have less kick. My dads 935 with 3.5 BBs kick less than my 1 oz goose reloads through my o/u
