The mobile meat guys

Postby aunt betty » Thu Feb 28, 2013 2:30 pm

Who ever heard of a guy going door to door selling meat out of his van?
This guy keeps coming to my door trying to sell me meat.
Told them I bought a half a cow that's about to be slaughtered and to forget it...LAST WEEK.
We need someone to buy the other half and it should go quickly.
The dude was here again today. You'd think a 85-pound Labrador that's trying to tear the door down to eat the guy would be a clue that he's not wanted here. Next time he shows up I'll be ready.
Go all out full tribal "elmer fudd" on him. Natural Camo Face Paint. lol
I'll try and sell (or trade lol) him some catfish or something.

This should be fun. No firearms allowed? Rats!
I've heard that it's incredibly stupid to fuck around with a crazy man's head.

WTF?
“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.” ― Samuel Adams

There is a fancy company that comes around here to sell meat too.

Hopefully they are as careless as Tyson when it comes to securing their cargo.

Now that would be nice. If I found a random cow roaming through the yard, am I allowed to shoot it and eat it, or am I under some obligation to find the owner? I could claim it as a feral cow, but I know some of those "rustling" laws still on the books are a bit draconian.

If it was tagged or branded, I'd find the owner. If not, I'd kill that joker.

Same strategy I have for cats, minus the eating.

The one that comes around here is Premier Steak and Seafood. They don't just come here to go door to door, but if someone places a big order, they will fill the truck up and hit up the neighbors of the person who ordered. They actually had some good looking stuff for a good price, but the quantities they sell it in were a little out of my range. The problem with my buying 50lbs. of prime rib is, I'm going to eat it all not caring that it costs $7 a pound.

Some guy sold some to my dad. Pulled up in the yard while he was outside and Gave him a deal on some filets bc " his freezer tore up" . So I tired to cook them rare on the sear burner on the grill and wound up choking on a peice of raw meat. My brother had to give me the Heimlich maneuver.

Around here, dogs used to get shot all the time because they sneak into people's sheds and snack on hanging deer. Nothing the dog's owner could do about it.

Just say it was eating your grass. Same difference.

I don't know if I'd ever buy meat from a door to door salesman.

Anytime a door to door salesman knocks on my door, I answer the door naked and with my 44. You get some hilarious facial reactions and they don't come back.

Had a guy come to my fence while I was working on my boat this fall and gave me a whole sales pitch about how he has grade A beef and the prices weren't to bad either. But I live off venison so didn't need any beef. Never heard of a door to door meat salesman before that.

I had one knock on my door once. I had two freshly killed moose racks laying in the driveway. As soon as I opened the door, he was looking at the racks and then turned around to me and said I guess you don't need any meat. I laughed and said "No" and he said "Have a great day".

A couple months ago I had two Mormons knock on my door to talk Jesus. I had just gotten out of the shower so I dropped the towel and answered the door. Told them I was a little busy but if they wanted to come back later they could. Havent been around since. A 44 and a boner would have made it a lot better though.

I wondered if he was selling 'hot' steaks or roadkill?

We get pretty good deals on the beef we buy. A hunter can tell what fresh meat is supposed to look like.
Since we started buying half and quarters...the quality and freshness has improved a lot!

The people who make their living by watching our receipts probably think we're vegens.
I shoot a lot of wild game and when we buy meat we buy straight from the farmer and pay with cash.

Only have a few chuck roasts, a sirloin roast, and a few packs of burgers left from the last cow. By the time I go pick up our half-cow I'll be needing some more beef. If I run out of beef I can get into my deer stash.
