Asking about DHC is like a baby asking his mother what sperm is-

DHC is another web site that many of us, including Olly, were banned from. The reason jarbo, GKR, Olly, Jehler, Redbeard and many others are so comfortable is that we have "known" each other for several years on DHC.

Look at my Sig line. That is a reference to DHC. A large web site that was cool to begin with, then the owner appointed some pure douche bag moderators that got a taste of power and they abused it.

Bottom line- No DHC, no WFF, no KSDucks, etc....

PS HntFsh was/is a moderator of the dog forum. I sent him a picture of a crying baby and told him he is a pussy and had no balls. And then I got banned.

I just wanted to make sure I mentioned that. He is the biggest douche of all.

I should say, do you want to weld thicker than that. That says it's only supposed to do 1/4". You could probably burn it shower for deeper, but it wouldn't be pretty or what I would suggest as a permanent fix

Don't bother with it. Will it weld 1/4", sure, will it last long doing it? No. Open that wallet and get something you can rely on.

I haven't ran any of the no name brands. With that being said it may very well be a decent welder. However, at 200 you are crawling into the area of a better welder. The lincon, a/c welder is a little bit more and will be a much better machine. As far as welding goes, you can weld thicker metal than advertised with beveling, multiple passes or stitch welds. I would pass and go with a quality machine and be done with it. I will admit though, I have looked at a lot of those machines thinking, I wish someone I knew would buy one so I could see if it was worth a shit

You can get a very strong weld on thicker metals than a machine is rated for by using a root pass and two overlapping fillets. The 1/4" rating is for a single pass.
That being said I would stick with a brand name and 220 machine rated for the max thickness you plan to work with.
