One year ago

Postby jarbo03 » Fri Jun 07, 2013 10:34 pm

I quit chewing one year ago today. While at work I spit my chew out, went outside and threw my can in the ditch behind the house, and told myself I was done with that shit. I can hobestly say I have not missed it at all.

I literally just put a chew in right before I read this. Between training newbs at work and remodeling the house, I've been chewing a lot. Twice as much as usual. I do need to cut back

Long drives can do it. Many years ago I had quit for 3 months, until a buddy and I decided to go to the Cabelas in Kearney, NE. My buddy fell asleep while I was driving, back on the wagon. I knew I was done when I made the drive to MT, waterfowl and turkey seasons with no problem.

Congrats man.

I never did get into the smoking/chewing, tried it a few times as a kid, old man caught me and kicked my ass. That ended that.

Honest question, why do you all feel the need to "quit" tobacco?

Can't you all just moderate yourselves, have a dip, cig, cigar, whatever here and there?

i can moderate cigars and cigs, but not chew. the habit is so far ingrained in me at this point that i don't even realize i've taken a chaw until i've had it in for an hour. i don't really smoke more than once or twice a year. i would like to have pipe tobacco with my coffee, that would be good.

and i do feel way healthier, even though i now have thoughts of killing the shit out of dumbfuck assholes i come across day to day.

John for me it was hard to moderate dip because it took my mind off of the idiocy I felt with on a daily basis. I dipped a can to 2 cans a day for 8 years, it took everything I had not to buy a can when I was at the store over here. Cigars and pipes I can go months without but dip was extremely hard. I cut back a significant amount but after a while it was just pointless to keep going. I quit as soon as I ran out of the stuff you sent over here. The tobacco overseas taste like shit no matter what kind you get.

I can have a cigar on occasion, after 18 years of chewing there is no way I could moderate. Never have smoked a cig.
