Update for Case #103160440 - "Warranty/Returns - iPhone 5 - Other"
John,

After reviewing all information submitted, I regret to inform you that we are unable to offer warranty assistance in this situation. Due to your purchase being made at a non-LifeProof authorized dealer , your LifeProof case is not warrantable.

Although we are unable to provide a warranty replacement, I would like to provide a link to our website shop where you may purchase spare parts for your LifeProof case, or if needed, a complete casing. Please find our store at http://www.lifeproof.com/shop/us_en/.

Please review our LifeProof warranty and policies page at http://www.lifeproof.com/en/policies-and-warranties.

If you feel that your LifeProof case is warrantable, please reply directly to this email and I will gladly further assist you.

Thank you and have a great day!

Trent

Trent I bought this case at a retail store, nowhere on the box did it warn me that I should make sure the store was a “LifeProof authorized dealer” it seems it would be your companies responsibility to ship to only dealers and not mine!?! I am not happy with this case, I have cleaned it, blown it up like a balloon like your faq page suggests, let me tell you that makes a guy feel like an idiot… anyway, I’m not letting this go, I urge you to reconsider before I launch a highly motivated negative review campaign across facebook and all the forums I am active on.

Another thing, why do you tell me to have a great day after telling me I’m out almost $100 because the product your company sold me doesn’t last 6 months and you don’t care?

Thanks….kinda

Update for Case #103160440 - "Warranty/Returns - iPhone 5 - Other"
John,

We can offer another option, it's called an Exchange after Received order, which means you send us your case first so we can verify its authenticity; if you're sure its an authentic product, and then we will send you a new case once we make sure it's real. The only reason we have issues with non certified distributors is because we get a LOT of counterfeits. If you would like to go ahead with that, let me know and I will send you what you need to send us your case. I'm sorry about this, it seems like Sam's club would be authorized, but it is not on our list. Here is a link to our list of sellers.

http://www.lifeproof.com/en/distributors-and-resellers/

But, like I said, if you want to do the exchange after received, let me know and we can do it!

Thanks!

Trent I have no idea If it’s an authentic product, I think you should bring up to your superiors in your next TPS report that the guys buying these things don’t know there is a counterfeit issue, they hear from a buddy “hey man check out the life proof its waterproof” and we go buy one, it’s in a flashy package with guys on skis and wave runners and jackhammers and chit and we think “looks legit” maybe instead of the seagulls, I thought they were kinda weak (may want to forward this part to graphic design) that a “hey cookie, this could be fake, make sure the store you’re buying it from is one of our authorized sellers by checking at this website….” And add a little nugget about the dangers of fake cases in some of your marketing. So, once again, I have no idea if my case is legit or not, what I do know is that it is of no use to me now, I’m all about sending it in on the exchange after received deal, but, before I do I want to know if this would be an issue if it had came from a authorized seller? I would like to buy a new lifeproof to replace this one while its gone as I dislike the otterbox. You see my hesitation in buying more of your merchandise?

PS Please forward this email to the ceo of lifeproof, if He likes my ideas above I expect payment for intellectual property, also let him know I’m available for consulting at a very competitive rate ;)

Thanks,
John Ehlers

John,

Thank you for making my day a little better, some entertaining words are appreciated. Although I doubt our CEO would appreciate your words as much as I do, I really wanna help you out now. You're on the ball my friend.

But anyways, I can send you the return instructions and everything else and go ahead and process the order, get your replacement case on order and on hold just until we make sure your case is legit. If you bought it at Sam's Club, it should be real, right? You shouldn't have anything to worry about.

And to answer your question, no this would not be an issue if you would have gotten it at an authorized retailer, (I know, I don't like some of our policies either) but I can still do my best and do the exchange after received for you!

Just let me know!

Trent, I googled your CEO and got pictures of your whole board….have you looked at the “meet the team” page of your company’s website?!? Holy hell man, THERE’S YOUR PROBLEM! For crying out loud Will Farrell is your vice president of engineering and the founder and ceo looks like he’s never had a cheeseburger or piece of tail, the rest (except for Ed, I’d drink with that guy) look like the cast of van wilder 53. Brother they need my help and I strongly urge you to move my contact info up the chain of command, for your job security if nothing else, I’ll make sure you get a corner office.

As for the return, I got this sumabeach boxed up and ready to ship, the thing is literally bouncing with anticipation for its travels back home, get me that shipping info so she can fly free.
PS I kept the little plug thing and the headphone adapter for my troubles, always loosing those little bastards and you’all don’t give those away!

Thanks,
John Ehlers

You handled that far better than I would have. Far better.

But if you don't piss on the case and then dry it before you send it in, you don't have a hair on your ass. That way, when they say, "Sorry, it's fake", you can say "Fantastic. Tell whatever employee examined it that they have my urine all over their hands. Have a great day."
