How good is Eric Church?

Postby Tomkat » Thu Jul 26, 2012 1:18 pm

So, how good is he? Better than Elvis or the Beatles? Better than Hank Williams?

Just how good is he?

I despise the Beatles, for the record. Not even one song is worth listening to.

Couldn't have said it better. Eric Church is OK at best, saw him in concert abd he was decent, no Hank or Jamey Johnson though. He has a few good songs, but most of what they play on the radio licks balls. Why you ask TK?

I only became aware of his career recently. Since I am old, and a buzzkill, I wanted to get some unbiased opinions so that I know what I am dealing with.

Thanks for being honest guys.

Jarbo, be sure to ask me about this again in person some time.

Eh. There is worse music out there, but I'm not going to go out of my way to listen to him.

Pledge allegiance to the Hag is a fine song. If you want to hear some decent songs, listen to what they don't play on the radio.

Agreed. He is better than a lot of the stuff out there right now, but I have serious doubts whether he would even crack the top 50 of the all time greats.

This, unless you have XM. Don't even turn on anything if all I have is local radio any more.

I have no idea who Eric Church is.

It is kinda shocking that no one likes the Beatles. While I am not a huge fan, I'm definitely a fan of what they did for music. You could take every song you've ever heard on the radio, and throw them away. They are by far some of the worst works that they produced. They have some pretty "out there" material for their time, if you are into the more progressive side of music.

I'm not trying to push the Beatles, because as I said, I'm not a big listener of them.

I know it's not everyone's cup of tea, but this came out in 65 or 66. There wasn't much out there that appealed to people on LSD at the time, except maybe this.

Eric Church is a hack. Singing a song about your "home boy" doesnt classify as country in my book. If you want true country look into Jamey Johnson.

The Beatles blow. Queers listen to the Beatles.

I actually like Eric's stuff they don't play on the radio. Jamey Johnson is the biggest badass in country music right now. Got tickets to see him and Merle in August.

That will be an awesome show. Saw Jamey with Hank a few years ago, Eric Church opened. Went to Omaha last year and saw Merle with Kris Kristofferson. Was in a small theatre, they both stayed on the stage the whole time taking turns singing while the other played and sang back up, it was amazing.

I saw Eric Church open up for Jamey Johnson and Hank Jr. a few years back. I swear Eric Church was on speed, that mofo was running around and kicking and jerking like some kind of idiot. Jamey Johnson rocked the house and of course Hank was his usual self. Jamey Johnson doesnt do all the running around, really just stands there and sings, but he commands the audience like none other. All in all it was a great show. I have seen Jamey 2 times and will see him again every time he I get a chance.
