With most of our seasons coming to an end. What was the last bird you shot?

Last one was a greenhead.
Park ducks in the woods when there are a couple million around is too easy. But I like it that way.

Dumped a drake red head after my buddy missed him three times. Champ the wonder dog picked it up and we packed it up for the season, an hour before sunset.

Can't remember whether my last this morning was a speck or blue, but know it was a goose. (Ducks are done.) Would expect the last of the season to be a blue but may call it a season when specks close this coming Sunday.

Last bird I shot was what my buddy calls Russian redhead.
Hen common mergy.
We still have a month plus of geese but, I don't always hunt them.
Goose hunting isn't as fun since Quackhead moved away.

Many more birds to kill, but the last duck was this greenhead. A pair floated in feet down at about 20 ft. I pulled up and let them clear out of the sun so I could take the drake.

Pretty sure it was a combined effort between me and 2 buddies on a green head that started out feet down. 9 shots later it finally hit the water 80 yards away. Then 7 or 8 more and about a 1/4 mile chase through slushy waist deep water I finally put the last bird on the strap for the year.

Here's mine.

I've seen way more of those this year than in years past, not sure why. Where I hunt the bird numbers have been all screwy. We used to kill almost all mallards and wood ducks, with the occasional sprig or canvasback. This year the wigeon, teal and spoonies are the majority. The wood duck numbers are way down, I have only seen 3, and have not seen any killed. And we have a surprising number of cinnamon teal. I have never seen them on the lake before this year, but this year I know of at least 30 killed here, and I have seen a few dozen alive. I think it has something to do with the drought, and there not being a lot of water in the valley.

I've only hunted here in this state for 4 years but in those past seasons combined I probably saw maybe 3 wood ducks. This year every place I hunted was loaded up with them. Works for me, tasty lil birds. :duck:
