You'll notice most of them don't hang around to much anymore. Stupid drama. A shame really.

Cool bird Dan.

I shot that pintail on my first hunt back to the camp after loosing my old yellow dog. That old dog sent that bird to me-I believe that. It was decided on that hunt that the species of duck for the decoy to hold Bourbon's ashes will be a pintail drake. My buddy that carves was in the blind with me.

That's the fascinating thing about bands...that ol boy has covered some miles since '07, seen some decoy spreads, and avoided the guns for 7 years...just fascinating.

Yup. My favorite band experience is actually two separate bands. I shot a banded pintail on the Missouri River in Nebraska in December 2011, banded in Saskatchewan in 2008. Fast forward to last year, we shoot a banded mallard out of a wheat field in North Dakota. Banded in Saskatchewan in 2008. Turns out they were banded by the same guy, 9 days apart.

I've never killed a banded duck but like to see the info associated with them.

Then you have the other kind - bird we killed Tuesday was banded 22 miles away on 8/13/14 and was too young to fly...lol.
