What's the Weather Like In you Area?

Postby MossyMallard12 » Fri Oct 26, 2012 8:52 am

I'm in SW Iowa and it got COLD and fast. It was warm the past 3 days and all the sudden it was fire-up the wood stove a bundle up. I hope this start pushing duck down to me, I haven't seen much just some Specks and 1 group of Mallards and thats it. There's some duck at Riverton Refuge but I'm not gonna fight that mess. I got a blind just no ducks yet.

Weather....um...pressure is dropping and wind is picking up. I think we are getting a hurricane.

Assa I read that the pressure levels have gotten as low as they've ever recorded. Keep an eye on this one and stay safe.

81 yesterday afternoon, in the high 30's this morning. My season opens a week from tomorrow, sure hope this front moves some ducks south. The CA 6 miles fron where I hunt was holding 10k ducks last week, typically prior to opening weekend it's holding 30-40k. Last year it was holding 75k, don't see that happening this year, have my fingers crossed for 20-30k with this front.

Yup. Had actual frost on the windshield this morning and small areas of water (puddle sized, not pond sized) were freezing in the cities, which means up north and outskirts small ponds are freezing.

Scaring the old people. Jim Cantore can kiss my ass. The upside is that I'm going out to slay deer every spare second between this afternoon and Sunday evening. (allegedly, on that last part).

Feels like low 60* here. Hopefully this "significant weather event" won't push the last remaining woodies out of the area...if it does there won't be anything here to shoot at. Lord knows there isn't any mallards where I hunt.

Told you. They've already pushed the landfall from our area up to NY. By Sunday, that thing'll be in Nova Scotia, and Jim Cantore will be sad.

Its a very complex situation where warm air mixes with cold air cauing condensation.... I could go on, but to keep it simple: if its coudy there could be rain.

Maybe I should have said same island. Wow how many people can say that. But if you wanted to get technical about it, I'm a kentuckyite unfortunately. That where we lived when I was born up until I was 12, but we have had a house here since I was 5.
