If the MAN is going 63 in the right lane on a 4 lane, I will set cruise to 65 and pass him. Still have not broke the law.
Never been pulled over for it.

We have some of the least congested interstates in the world and yet we have speed limits ranging from 65 to 75 mph. I really dislike that I have to drive 75 mph give or take when I'm out on a interstate with hardly no one around me, espc in western KS or parts of MO.

Totally agree.
For me speeding isn't cause I'm running late, I just like to get where I'm going sooner rather than later whether it's 1 hour or 10 hours away. Usually try to keep it between 8 to 9 mph over the posted speed limit depending traffic or just go with the flow. Not sure if you can count the speeding tickets I've had using your fingers and toes. I have a lead foot, but have really focused on slowing it down in recent years.

Its a good thing I've been busted speeding when I was slowing down instead of at full throttle....allegedly.

Your right not gonna argue that, but most traffic runs 8 to 9 over around here. If I speed, it's 50/50 whether or not I get a ticket.

This is the main reason I stay close to the speed limit if not under. I DO NOT want to give another dime to the damn government!!!!!!

bullshit, only so many hours in the day, I don't make money on the road going 55assateague wrote:The solution is simple- plan ahead, you bunch of slackasses. Does that make the one going faster in the left lane any more legal than the one going 5 over? Aren't both of you breaking the law, so how is one or the other one right?
I'm saying just because you're speeding the left lane doesn't mean you can block other people wanting to go faster
But if I'm going over the speed limit, why should I get over for somebody going faster than me? Who is right? Neither.
QH's Paw wrote:Fuck anyone who thinks I should drive 55. You can go live with the fuckin' peanut farmer who mandated the 55mph speed limit. And, for the record, they did not mandate 55mph for safety, they mandated it for gas savings during the "fake" gas crunch of the 70s. The same people came up with a great new Department of Energy to protect us from the money mongering gas companies. Go ahead and tell me how that shit worked out, it didn't. They are just another bureaucracy now, the Department of Energy that is.
As for the safety aspect, all the freeways we have that were built in or before the 70s were designed for speeds of 70-90mph. I remember when I was a kid not only were the interstate freeways 70-90 but, the state highways here in Oregon were also. Now some assholes comes along and starts trying to convince all the kids, that weren't born yet, the reason was for safety....NOT!
If you want to drive 55, get yo ass in the right lane and STFU.
