He said he agreed with me on top of the bet. The bet was that hand nailing was faster. Gang already cleared it up that he meant it was more of a money maker than literally. We already discussed it and its over. Not sure why you are still getting all butthurt about it.
Hugsies?

Two people can't agree with me within a 24 hour period. Sorry Jeffy but you have to choose white on this one until tomorrow.

RonE wrote:Seems to me that for a whole roof (stacked or not) it would be installed in less hours if nailed by hand than by coil-nailer.
With a coil nailer the measuring gauge is on the nail gun, with a roofing hatchet (I like AJC) the gauge and cutter is always in your hand, you don't have to set the gun down to cut shingles. With an apron that holds 20 lbs of nails you reload about 1/20th the number of times you do with a coil nailer.
With experienced roofers, hand nailing because of not having to run ail lines, extension cords or fill gas tanks allows the roofer with a hatchet to start 15 to 45 minutes earlier than the guy with the gun.
Sure, you can line up a row of shingles and shoot them down faster with a nail gun than you can hand nail them but one row of shingles don't count for shit when it comes to roofing, unless it is the last row of the day and cold beer is at the end.
One thing about roofing is that the customer never comes up to inspect your work and if it doesn't leak or blow off, even crappy work gets by.
