Guess what tiller and I found in the crop of the Gadwall we shot the other day? That's right RICE!!!!

I've heard it from several different sources. Usually they don't get killed to often in the rice. That's cool. I've killed a hand full of Gaddys with rice in their craw before. Nothing new.

Being greedy gets you nowhere. I'll shoot the first 6 ducks that come in.

No. Mergansers are part of our 6 duck limit.

Wow... I just got the merg and coot limit mixed up... it's the same here.

I feel stupid.

I normally don't shoot them if other birds are working, if it's slow they're in trouble. This was a great looking bird. Was a group of 5 drakes, lit in the dekes. Mergs are not included in our 6 bird limit, you can shoot 5 with only 2 hoods. (I think)

It can be. Last year sucked ass though. It got slow in November, had one decent shoot early December then it froze up tight through January. We got into a few honkers late but lots of goose eggs and really cold days.

Ducks in Eastern Washington on public land was a little weak last year. Did well on one private land hunt.

I had a pair I shot (first ones I had ever even seen, only seen 2 other drakes and 3 hens the rest of that year) that I was going to mount, but my BIL was getting meat from the garage freezer and took them out, along with my drake canvasback which was going to the taxi, set them on top of the freezer and forgot about them. I figured it out after it was too late to save them. Bastard.

Yeah. My buddy's club can get a few hanging out in their Deep water ponds. If I ever get a chance to hunt that place again. I'm going for one.
