I bought a new 2001 Silverado and drove it for 223k miles before trading it in on a new one in 2103. The tranny and fuel pump lasted about 100k each, as I replaced each one twice. It was a great truck, and I would probably still be driving it, but was having to start pouring money into it mechanically, and the a/c going out was the final straw. Summertime on the gulf coast is flat out miserable without

I went through 5 or 6 fuel pumps with the 2000 I had. Never own a Chevy product again.

Sounds like it's rodded to me, lol.

What's wrong with the 4l60e? That's the standard trans from 91(?) thru like 07 or some shit. I put well over 200k on my S-10, and I currently have 217k in the silvy and still going

How many miles are on this red rocket?

130,000. The 60 series don't hold up if the truck did much towing, or if the truck has a lot of weight on it. That's the thing is I don't know if this truck was pulling a camper every weekend in the summer or had lots of weight in the back.

The fuel pump on my pops suburban went out before he put the new engine in (around 220k miles) with a new engine in at 230k.

But the good thing about that tranny is the are relatively inexpensive compared to most.

I know. But I don't want to hook up my truck with a ball, then be limited to only me being able to pull it. That trailer pulls awesome so gar

Why are you making a boat trailer?

Just buy one.

Can't find one that is cheap enough that will hold the weight I need.
This won't take much work to get fit for the toon and its got tandem 5200lb axles.

How are you going to build the lift system?
I've owned and delt with a couple homemade boat trailers, they are a huge hassle... You only save a few houndred after you pay for materials acount for your time.

I figured the lift system you see on rental pontoon trailers would help you launch at shallower boat ramps... I could be wrong.

Sometimes they are, but you can launch in water just deep enough to float.

Just have a winch that has a pulley (I don't think that's spelled right) at the back of the boat to winch it off.

Thats the plan. Then probably hook a pulley in the front of the toon to pull it back on when I can't get much more than the back of the trailer under

are you talking a hand or motorized winch?

If you put a motorized winch on there you could just go buy a nice crank up for less.

A new (to me) fishing sled.

Image

Image

Not as big as I had planned on getting, but is as much boat as me and my woman need for what we do. Only 17', but center console and no leaning post to get in the way, all deck. The kicker is that with a day's worth of hauling crap out of my garage off to the dump and Goodwill, the boat will now fit inside, and that is huge! Had to manually push my garage door up a few more inches and peg off, but she is now under cover
