Finally pulled the trigger on my first bow. Got a Bear Encounter RTH package. It seemed to be the best bow within my price range and also had the draw length I would need being as tall as I am.

Haha I've been rifle hunting a bunch just never got into bow hunting. Angry birds on the phone is a life saver sometimes.

Get offthe stand and actually hunt them. It takes the edge off the boredom.

That's hard to do with a bow in hardwood forests with 50-100 yard visibility. Your best off to let them come to you.

I'm guessing you've never been to the Pacific Northwest part of the US. There are very few places you can see that far here. Actually, the brushier the better, to a certain extent. It allows you to get closer to the game.
I wasn't really trying to put a dig on your style or type of hunting, was just saying, if they aren't moving then you should just move to them.
Most of my animals I've killed with a bow are inside 30 yards. In 2011, I was 10 yards from an elk and couldn't get a clear shot, so I didn't shoot. It's just part of the game.

I know a few people here that are from the Astoria area. They all say that elk and deer hunting in Oregon is a walk in the parm over deer in NY...quite literally

Next time you're eating with a woman and she's eating black olives on something, say "you know what's funny? Black olives taste just like pussy". You will get some sort of reaction to gauge how the rest of the night is going to go. I suppose you could use any sort of obscure food- just so happens every time I've done it, it's been black olives.

I still don't understand how my boss owns and outfits two 36 footers.

Fuel is pretty much automatically 20% of your gross.

Insurance, dry storage, slip fees.

And all that gets you is boat, not a boat equiped for fishing, and your crew still needs to get paid.

There is a reason that elk season is only 4 days...they are fuckin retarded enough to let you walk to them. It's obvious some of you westerners have never hunted the east.

And Boot, they are pretty retarded:lol:
That only makes it worse though knowing a retard can walk in with his rat terrier and shoot an elk.

I grew up hunting whitetails in PA. There is no way you can tell me Coast Range blacktails are easier to hunt. At least not on foot. Although plenty of fat asses, and not so fat asses, just drive around glassing clearcuts until they find one bedded down, then shoot it from 200+ yards away. That's not really what I consider hunting, though.

id say at least half if not more of the deer I have shot in northern lower Michigan have been on the stalk, most inside of 60 yards or so, have you ever tried doing it slowly and quiet? I can hold still in a deer blind for about 10 minutes, I can creep through the woods like molasses all day. Helps with a fresh rain or a little snow

I do very little if any stalking. Maybe if I did it more I could make it work, but I've found sitting to be productive. It helps when we have 160 acres surrounded by mostly public land. All the locals wander around in the state land trying to "stalk" and push the deer into the river bottom on our property where I'm sitting 25' up a tree waiting for em.

Here we go again! My deer is harder to kill than your deer! Blah blah blah blah blah! If you know how to hunt stalking and hunting on the ground is the only way to do it. I choose to stalk. If you don't know how to hunt.....well........sit in a tree.

whatever hunter boy, "hunting deer" is a misnomer, it's no more hunting then buying a steak at the grocery, you mill around till you see he beast and shoot the sumabitch!

Now, setting up on a hundred thousand square miles of water and bringing the ducks to your island, that's hunting ;)
