I have this feeling we will see Alex Smith tonight. I won't feel safe until we are up by 56. Until then the wife is on the way to the store to get me more booze.

Just make sure to take your time...I know I would. I would probably have to try it twice just to make sure.

Hmm...It was almost 50 here today. Not sure if weather plays a factor as I've always just shot them when I saw them grouse hunting. I would like a few for the table though.

We shoot more than just buffleheads on good years. This year looked like it was going to be ok but the weather changed and it went to shit fast.

Ok. Why do they call canvasbacks canvasbacks? They don't have a back like canvas. Maybe they should call them redeyes.

That is their name, not nickname. It would be like saying a Scaup doesn't have a scaup so why do they call it that.

And their back does look like canvas on mature drakes if you look close.

Dude...go back and read any of the old books and stories about duck hunting - they've been called blackheads forever, especially on the east coast.

Damn you Kaepernick! I was thinking Smith would be in from Kaepernick getting hit and taken out. Apparently you have to be touched in order to be hit hard enough to get taken out.

Maybe you aren't understanding me. I know they have been called that. Never said I didn't know or didn't like it. I simply said I don't understand why.

Canvasbacks do have a canvas on their back. It's true. You can set up the easel and everything.

Blue bills have a blue bill. That's why you would call them that. There are about a half dozen ducks with a black head, so calling one blackheads are like calling little ducks butterballs. It could mean 4 different birds.

Mmmmmoooooaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh.
