Duck snob...yeah right. I shoot mergansers.

We don't get them here often, as in, I might see one here once a year. Always let a youth pop them because it's always in the first split when I see them. Shot quite a few in NoDak although they weren't very good to eat, but neither were a lot of birds. Not like on the pacific coast where everything tastes great. I have had them here and they are much better than the ones I ate in NoDak

We really need a sarcasm font. I have only seen one merganser where I hunt.

Quite a few big, big dollar clubs here only shoot mallards, that is it nothing else. If mallards are not flying, they won't shoot anything else.

You will find quite a few posts of me saying how I would rather kill most other species of ducks over mallards. My favorite for the table are Ringnecks, the Woodies/Teal. Mallards are pretty far down but sometimes you gotta shot whats flying. I had quite a few hunts this year where all that was flying was mallards and blacks so I took what I could.

My brother went In our spot on the lake and he said the mergies were like Mosquitos landing in the spread and he had 2 guns he didn't have time to reload so just pick up the other gun. All we get are the hoodeds

One of the clubs I hunted had two blinds. Every day we had to sort out who wanted to shoot what and where.

Always ended up being the spoony-shooters down there and the 'picky' guys with me.
I wanted it that way and was only too happy to "go with the flow or ya gotta go" (rule #3)

We often would let big flocks of all hollywoods go by. Then we'd start the countdown. Within 60 seconds the other blind was hammering on them. They weren't even aware we were "letting" them have all the spoonies they wanted.
It felt kinda good doing it too. That way we could shoot the mallards that came a couple hours later.

Can't go hunting without it. It's like a preemptive apology for any gastrointestinal boo-boos. You never have to say "excuse me" when wearing the aweful waffle hat.

I have stopped at every Waffle House I have driven by.
When the Cubs were in the NLCS in '03, I was in college. We drove down to Miami to catch some games because tickets were worth more than gold in Chicago. I think that we ate at 6 or 7 of them on the way down, and quite a few on the way back up...
