Bottom pic, either that goose is a GIANT, the other one is small or it's the way it's sitting on the log?

That was a big goose, one of the worst walks back to the truck ever. Was 3/4 mile down river on the sand bar. Along with 3 doz dekes and full blind bag, the geese sucked.

The jet sled is the single greatest piece of hunting equipment I own for walking in. Made life getting to and from the blind a hell of a lot easier...

X2
I removed over 400 decoys a year from my blind with a jet sled. I would die without it. If I knew how to post videos I would post a video of juice box trying to get my lab to pull him around in one, it sank fast!

Been there I had to drag a 180lb deer about 2 miles one time. About a mile in it felt 300lbs. Was in the low 30's and I was drenched in sweat. That's a helluva goose though!

Last year I shot 6 specks and 5 ducks on a solo hunt at the local refuge. I thought I was hot shit until I realized I had to carry all those birds and all my gear about a mile to the parking lot in 80 degree weather. Worst walk I've ever had.

That shit sucks. Reb, you should try dragging an actual 300# deer out of a steep draw, it blows.

I never planned on the geese, was the first I had ever taken in the river. This particular day the river was freezing as the hunt ended, was still drenched when back to the vehicle. Walking through sand sucks, jet words don't drag well either, need that spray lube from Christmas Vacation.

I'd rather kill myself in quick spurts than drag 2 miles.

Yep it can still be hot here in early November.

I had one of those last year (without the teal/geese to drag back) in early season. got off work, and raced to the river for the last few hours of light in the humid 80* heat.

1/2 mile walk to get to the blind, and I was dying. Coming from work, I didn't want to wear my steel toes, so I threw on my waders for the walk. I don't have early season waders, so the 3mm neo waders made for the swampiest of the swampy asses while watching geese land 100 yards up river. That will not happen again...

Who's a one up guy? This guy!

Thought about wearing the waders all the way home and into the shower to keep from leaving any evidence in my truck.

3 years ago in central KS was 83 degrees when we got back to the truck, and the mosquitoes were big enough to stand flat footed and fuck a turkey!

I only own 5mm waders, makes for world class swampass.:lol:

80+ why even wear waders, you're gonna be just as wet as if you didn't, not gonna smell as bad, not be as hot and be a hell of a lot more comfortable.

I have to walk through the river to get to the blind. The skeeters are a bitch to begin with. I think without wader protection, I would get enough bites to make me swell up so much that I couldn't walk back out!

Breathable waders and/or hip boots will be on the list for this season...

I'm a huge proponent of Cabelas dry plus breathables. Skeeters suck ass here too. I hate em. Thermacells work sometimes, but permetherin works all the time.

That's what I was thinking about for breathables. I use a thermacell, but need to add a few to the blind bag. Haven't used permetherin, but I may need to give it a try.

I hear ya. Place I was referring to is a natural lowlands salt marsh, that nasty silt can fuckin wreak ass. I have seen holes open in the clouds of skeeters when shooting. Glad none of the regular spits around here are that way.

Our ground is full of methane from all the organic matter in our clay soil. Every step it bubbles out and smells like my ass after eating little Caesars $5 pizza!:)
