Just watched a guy on the news say it was 50/50 the debris found by the satellite was from the jet. Need to send him a shirt.

The Doppler effect is real. We can determine if a star is traveling towards or away from us by the light-shift caused by Doppler effect. Why not an aircraft by its radio transmissions?

I kind of figured every hunter started out hunting by railroad tracks and had observed the Doppler effect first hand by listening to train horn as it goes by.

If they haven't found any physical evidence, which they haven't, there mathematical determination of where the plane is proves nothing to me. Until they physically find it, how can they know for sure their mathematics are correct? Especially since its never been done before.

All they determined is that the aircraft was not heading north. They aren't saying they can say exactly where it's at. Just that it's not in Viet nam or on a northern course. Mkay?
