I think they put crushed rock in there too. Some kind of "keeps it hot" gimmick of an idea.
I been using strickly hardwood lump charcoal like this. Can see it's made out of pieces of wood. Some bigger and some smaller but it's not pressed together like all the other brands. Smells good when it's cooking too.
I like it better and it got me thinking about asking AT how he makes his own.
AT, how do you make your own charcoal? I'm wanting to do it.

You can make the kind that just randomly explodes for no reason once a month, is very temperamental, and would really perform if you had a bigger barrel.
