The only lake I know has good ice is arbutus lake 5, we can go there and catch 5" long parasite riddled blue fill with 5000 other guys or we have to risk it, Jgun says skego is safe and he has a great spot with big perch, who knows if he's telling the truth though

If lake 5 has good ice, the spot I fish on Spider should have good ice...

I'd rather catch crappies than a bunch of small bait stealing perch, but if we could get on the big perch I would get very excited.

Hope you guys do better than I did yesterday. Forgot my coat (which had my gloves in the pockets), forgot the hand auger so it's a good thing that the power auger that hadn't been started in over a year worked, forgot matches so it's a good thing I randomly had a book in the tackle box to light the heater, and didn't even see a single fish on the vexilar. Good thing my buddy brought the beer because I probably would have forgot that too.

It is about a half mile walk to the spot I like to fish... ;)

I can check it out early-ish in the day tomorrow in case it's not good, but I talked to a guy this afternoon that lives right by the scout camp and he said there were a ton of people on the ice there over the weekend.

I get lots of flags for pike there too.

You like the Vex? I jumped on that wagon but I guess I just haven't noticed any difference or maybe my expectations were too high?

You jumped on the wrong wagon is all. MarCum units are a lot nicer

My dad got a report of a couple of 38 and 42" pike out of spider today.
You guys let me know when and where.

I've seen a 20+ pound pike pulled out of there and lost one last year that was pushing 40" It was the largest pike I have ever hooked. There's lots of small ones too ;)

Are you allowed to spear out there? For some reason I thought it was closed to spearing. If you have one and have the means to cut a hole it might be worth it. I don't know if it makes a difference, but the bottom is really soft there.

You stand over a hole in the ice and when a fish comes by you spear it..... It's a lot of fun.

Your shitting me right?? That's what y'all do for fun up there when the ice comes??? I'd be too drunk to stand up by the time a stupid fish decides to come by my hole and miss it with a spear. And I was starting to think the snow and ice looks appealing.

It's even more fun when you're drunk and end up throwing the spears across the ice like a javelin.

I want to try spearing. I've been in a dark house and it's pretty cool what you can see under the ice but we were just fishing with poles.

And flight, you have to scream "AIAIAIAIAiiiaaaaaaaa" as you throw the spear, otherwise it doesn't count and you have to put the fish back.

Call them and ask how the bite is first. That should give you your answer.

Oh, and about the vexilar, it's my dad's. I just use it since it's there. I like it though. It's an FL-8 and my friend had an FL-18 with was pretty fancy with the "bottom 6 feet" thing.
