I turned about 200 duck floaters into snow goose floaters since I was too cheap to actually pay for snow goose floaters. Wasn't too bad of a process really.

The shells I bought were originally snows that the guy turned into Canadas. Now they are part snow, and part Canada. Those will probably take more time to prep than paint.

You guys are doing too much. I get my stuff ready about 4 days before opener. Although I suppose at some point I want to paint some storm fronts into divers this summer.

Flock some decoys.
Fix up my boat blind.
Make a small long tail and get a little Jon boat because I'm sick of walking the shallows.
Make a ducktoon.
Get a diver spread started.
Figure out how to use my new shotshell loader and get some shells loaded.
And I'm sure there is more.

There is one big marsh that I've been meaning to hunt ever since I built my hybrid, but haven't done more than take a couple quick runs through it in the boat. It's about 300 acres, and nothing bigger than the hybrid is going to get into most of it. I can't help but think it'll be a mecca, just haven't found the time to get in there yet. Honestly, I've been waiting for a dog, too. It's so full of phragmites surrounding the narrow shallow guts that until it snows or we have a couple good winter storms, I'd be hard put to find any duck that fell out of the water. I need that to smash down the reeds, but the last two winters, we just haven't had that. Maybe I'll load up a couple thermacells in the hybrid and go mark out a couple spots next month. I really want to get in there.
get in their in July and round up yourself a pond ;)

There's actually two big open areas, about 100'x300' that are inaccessible by anything but canoe or kayak. Or hybrid, and that's iffy a couple spots- I'm pushing pretty hard to squeeze through some of the banks. If I tried it at low tide, I don't think it'd work. But if I could get back in there, I'd be surrounded about 200 yards away by a private woodline, and wider deeper water cuts. I could see those bigger guts getting filled up with hunters blasting, and my little "sanctuaries" being filled to the gills with escapees looking for a safe haven. And there's no way greenjeans could walk in, or get there in one of his Boston Whalers. No way, no how.

I started building a layout boat around December, and never touched it since. We sold the one we were using and bought the materials to build three new and improved ones. I need to get on that. Or I'll be body booting for divers this year.

Nothing! A day or two before the season I will throw all my stuff together in a pile. Gun, shells, cammo, calls, alcohol, and waders. Haul it all to the club the night before opener. Blinds will already be brushed, decoys sitting in the blind. It's pricey but sure makes things easy.

I need to get a layout blind and field decoys. On the plus side, I'm pretty sure I will have 2500 acres of wheat locked down by the end of summer.

Body booting? I saw it on a tv show, I think it was ducks unlimited, and I could have swore they were in Maryland. They were hunting the Chessapeake.

Looks fun too. I will be doing it this year for geese. For late season divers, I would much rather be in the layout.

There are two places you can do it, I think the Susquehanna Flats (northern Chesapeake) and somewhere around the Potomac (southeastern Chesapeake). Everywhere else, it's against the law to hunt off the bottom. Gotta be in a boat, or on the shore.

From what I saw its just standing in water off the shore. Must fall into the diver hunter elite group that make up a clever name for it to make up for their short cranks.
