Damn bo! 62?

As energy defficient my house is...It would only be 62 between December and February. I don't think I could keep it constant below 66 at my house during the summer.

I can keep it down around 58 degrees if I really wanted to. My electric bill runs from $80 to $150 depending on time of the year. I will work 8 to 12 hours out in the heat all day long if its required. But I don't want to be sweating when I get home or if I come in from working in the garage.

Not big on ac until its in the 90s. Working in a hot factory it's much easier to just be hot all the time than hot at work, cool at home them back to hot at work.

.... Plus it costs too much to run the ac

I was looking into security systems for a project for work, and this is one we had to research. This seems like a pretty good deal. It's $10 a month, no contract, buy and install whatever add-ons yourself. Fully interactive, controllable with a smartphone, laptop, etc. You can watch live video from your home via phone, turn lights on and off, control thermostats, motion sensors, whatever you want. No big packages to buy. The thermostat package is $180, and that gets you all you need. After that, you can buy cameras, add motion sensors, glass break sensors, appliance controls, whatever you want. Still $10 a month. Check it out. Compared to most of the other rip-off artists (ADT, Brinks, Protection 1, etc) it looked like a good option.

Totally secure...rofl.
Labrador/Remington security kicks ass.
Bought a programable thermostat a while back.
Very hi tech. Runs on batteries.
Bonjour.

How about when you're in Arkansas? I wish I lived in a place where people only broke in when I was home with the dog and my gun.

My bedroom is in a furnished attic so I run a window air condition at night to cool it down a little, Other than that no AC in our house. AC is addicting...once you come in from outside there is no going back out.

Couldn't find any pricing on their website, what do they run the customer? The Honeywell are a recognizable brand, and I think we usually install them for $240.

Needs a cat 5 from the router to the module, the module needs to be somewhere between the thermo and the furnace, usually have about 3 hours into an install if we have to run network wire. I haven't used the Honeywell but the Bayweb is very intuitive to use, can set up quite a few alert modes and has two or three inputs for open/closed type sensors, water bugs and such

I had to choose.
4000 for central air or 400 for a window unit.
No-brainer.
How do you hook up one of the hi dollar lah tee dah smart phone thermostats to a window unit?
How much would it save me during the life of the unit and would it be worth it?

Window units are not air conditioners, they chill a room. A properly sized central air provides a balance of cooling, dehumidifing and air filtration. To compare the two is silly. If you don't have central air and are considering it look into a heat pump, depending on where you live and electric prices in your area it could be a good deal

Window unit is much more efficient. Both cost and energy...This is where a salesman points out how noisy they are.
